The story of the Aarni Kaivari Limited Edition collection began when a 150-year-old linden tree was felled by the storm Aila in Helsinki's well park in 2020. One tree gave birth to a very unique numbered special edition of 1,000 watches, and now the story of the old tree continues in a completely new way.

New life for old park wood as a designer watch
The collection's unique material is beautifully brought to life in the elegant essence of each Aarni Kaivari Limited Edition watch. At the heart of the watch's colour scheme is the beautifully crafted light brown lime, which is used on both the watch strap and the bezel. The carefully cut wood gives the watch a softly undulating design that feels comfortable on the wrist. A beautiful brown sunburst dial with a sunburst finish blends beautifully with the wood of the same tone. The stunning design is finished with thoughtful, beautiful gold-tone details that give the watch a luxurious glow. Note, for example, the Kaivari compass adorning the knob and the gold-colored bezel of the daisy.
The elegant design of the watch has also been designed for a comfortable fit. The gold-colored steel case is 42 mm wide and houses a high quality Miyota 9015 automatic movement, with a slightly thinner than usual design that gives the watch a chunky look. A 38 mm version is also available if you're looking for a smaller model.
The watch strap is easy to change thanks to a handy quick-release clasp. You can customise the look of the watch to suit the situation, replacing the wooden bracelet with a leather strap, for example. How an old tree in a mining park became an Aarni watch
The Aarni, the Digger, Brunnsparken, Brunsan. The popular park has many names and a special place in the hearts of many city dwellers. For decades, the park has been a favourite gathering place for Helsinki residents, bringing them together for a sunny summer's day or a bubbly May Day picnic. The name of the well dates back to the 19th century. A new spa had just opened in the area, and its beautiful park soon became one of the city's most attractive attractions. The bombings of the Second World War ended the spa's story, but the city's new favourite park was here to stay.
The trees growing in the parade grounds of the Well Park have been cherished since the spa's days. However, the forces of nature unexpectedly claimed the 150-year-old lime tree when Storm Aila blew through in 2020. Aarni saw an opportunity to make the old tree into something unique, and so it will now continue its story as the elegant Aarni automaton.
